The first job I did on my own when I started this business was with a friend. Put in an electrical subpanel and rewired most of the house. Remodeled the bath and kitchen ultra low budget. He called me a few months later and said that when he turned on the washing machine at the same time as the toaster the lights dimmed and faltered. This caused me much consternation. As in, I wondered if I was making a big mistake with my life if I could screw up such an obvious thing - they are all on separate circuits and should not affect each other. I called Clif and said, whatever it is, fix it on my dime. He called my friend and asked him to go outside and describe the transformer on the telephone pole. From the description he identified it as an obsolete and likely malfunctioning transformer and that PGE would replace it. They did it at no cost. I never would have even guessed. Experience matters sometimes.
